My poor, neglected blog

This summer has been VERY busy to say the least. I was just looking at the calendar and realized that there has not been ONE weekend since the middle of May that we haven't had something to do. Geez.

Not only has my blog been very neglected, but so had my 101 list. Its a shame. I haven't made a meal in like 2 months (ok, 3 if you count July because I do not see it happening). No letters to my brother (lots of calls though!), no dates...the list goes on that's for sure. I'm trying to make a decent effort to accomplish things, but the time is just not there.

Here are some recent ccomplishments that don't really need their own posts (these are for June and July).

#36 - Try a new food once a month
In June, I tried 2 new (kinds of) food. Vietnamese food and Indian food. The Vietnamese food was super yummy. I had a chicken and noodle dish of which the name escapes me, but it was amazing. Its definitely going to be something I get more of.

I also got to try Indian food. At a buffet. Now, me and buffets we're BFFs. Except when it comes to Indian. I do NOT like Indian food AT ALL. I was very disapointed to be at a buffet actually come out hungry.

In July, I tried some Chicken Laab. And it was awesome. When we order Thai food at work I pretty much stick with my Drunken Noodles or Pad Thai. Both very yummy. This girl at work ordered Chicken Laab the last time we got Thai and very graciously let me try hers. It was awesome. I'm now going to struggle with my orders when we get Thai food. But that's ok, because I'm expanding my tastebuds :)

In the way of Credit Cards for #53 we are doing awesome.

In June we paid of Best Buy and in July we paid off Macys! Both were huge reliefs. I mean, they really all are, but now we're down to 3. THREE. We only have to pay off THREE more cards. Its freaking awesome. I can't believe that in January we had 11 to pay off and we've already paid off 8. That's right folks, we've paid off EIGHT cards. I can not wait to have them all gone. I never thought we'd make this kind of progress but we are really kicking some credit card ass.

Who doesn't want more money?

Well, we certainly could use a little more!

We've successfully paid off TWO more credit cards for #53 on my list!! Which brings our total cards paid off to 6 out of 11 which means we're half way there!!!!!

I get more and more excited every time we pay one off. Thanks to Steve's new found painting work and the State of VA we've paid off both of our CareCredit cards.

Yes, we have 2 of them. Why do we have 2? Funny story. 2 years ago Steve wanted to get Lasik. Everyone else was doing it so he joined the club! (I kid I kid, he really wanted it and it just so happened that 2 other people we knew got it done that same summer). Well, we went and had the cosultation and found out it was a LOT of money. We hadn't really saved for it, we knew we'd do it but they were having some special so we wanted to take advantage of that. Well, we definitely needed the financing, which really didn't turn out to be that bad since it was 0% interest for 2 years (we're beating that mark by 2 months!). As it turns out, you can't use the financing and take advantage of their deals. That sucked big time. But by the time we found this out Steve was so excited and they had an opening at the end of the week or it was like a month or so away. I really didn't want to open ANOTHER card, but that face of his is just to hard to say no to. (I've learned how to say no to credit now though).

Well, we decided to apply for the financing and we used Steve's name with me as the co-signer so we could get his credit history built up and whatnot. As it turns out, we didn't get enough. UGH! I called the place and was like WTF guys. I asked if we could just use me as the main signer, but they said it doesn't work that way. However, I could go ahead and sign up for my own. Awesome. At this point we only needed like another $1,500 in credit so I was like ok whatever I'll never hear the end of it if we don't, so we did. We ended up with WAY more than we needed, but we got what we needed. Steve got his Lasik done and loves every second of it.

In the end it was probably the best investment we've made as far as our credit cards have gone since we actually remember what this one was for haha. I am certainly glad that we got them both paid off before the accured interest hit us.

I'm trying really hard to keep up with this blog, but between work and life its really hard sometimes. I'd much rather seperate these posts out, but I don't have much to say in them anyway...

#41 - Finish Twilight Series. I finished Breaking Dawn and as usual it was amazing! I honestly didn't want it to end and really want there to be another book. There is apparently one in the making, but its not done yet so I'm left waiting for another book about the adventures of Edward and Bella.

#53 - Pay off Credit Cards. THREE more have been paid!!!! I was so excited to do this and really paying off 3 cards at once gave me a better feeling than just paying off one by itself, but either way I feel great!!!! I'm even more excited that even though Steve doesn't currently have a job we're still on track to pay off our cards this year!!! I'm loving this!

#36 - Try a new food once a month. Pete went out and found this new juice that looked yummy. Some acai and blueberry juice (I forget the exact name) so I figured I'd give it a go. Well, I really wasted my try something new this month because it was GROSS. I thought it would be good, but then again I'm not a huge fan of blueberries and that's really what it tasted like. Its supposed to be good for you and have anti-oxidents and all that jazz but it is totally not worth scarring my tastebuds for that.

#85 - Play the lotto once a month. Apparently my good luck from last month did not carry over to this month. I lost and if you know me you know I really do not like to lose. Especially money! Even though it wasn't a lot of money ($2...big whoop right?), I still lost. I'm hoping for the big bucks one of these days....

#81 - Organize Scrapbooking supplies. I finally got around to doing this. I was going to start scrapbooking our wedding and honeymoon but then I realized that I had NO idea where anything was so I spent some time going through all of my crap and putting it into one nice neat place. I never realized how much crap I really have...and how much of it was junk. But even still, I took a huge pile of crap and organized it neatly into one little bookshelf! I've got stickers coming out the wazoo, and more markers than I know what to do with. Want stamps and ink? I've got plenty! I really needed to do this and actually take somewhat of an inventory because I was planning on going out and buying stuff to scrapbook the wedding and honeymoon, but as it turns out I think I'll end up having more stickers and stuff than I can use! Plus, I found PLENTY of empty scrapbooks and frames than I know what to do with as it stands.

There you have it folks, what I've been doing over the last couple weeks. I've got another post to do, but I'm at work and I really wanna post some pictures for it so I'll have to do that when I get home. Until then, have fun :)

#53 - Pay off Credit Cards/Loan

I am VERY excited to announce that we have successfully PAID OFF one of our credit cards!!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!! I realize this is 1 out of 11, but still it is 1 less. I am beyond excited today. I was having a terrible day and around lunch time I figured I would re-visit my trusty excel spreadsheet that is tracking our debt and how fast (...or slow...) we're paying it off. We're due to receive a check from an insurance company to compensate me for an accident I was in (in 2007!!) so I wanted to see how many cards we could pay off with the money we're getting. Turns out that we can pay off 3 more whenever that check comes...which might not be till March, but I'm stoked anyway! Well, while I was doing that I noticed that one of our balances was low enough that instead of just paying part of it and then paying it off next month that I would go ahead and pay it off today! So I did!! It was a great feeling. I love it. I even did a little dance. Seriously, I did. This even makes me kind of want to do our taxes to see how much we'll get back to see how much more we can pay off....but I think I'll leave those for Steve :)

I do have more blog updates, but I'm at work and can't upload the awesome pictures for the blog entries (since they're home and all...) but I just wanted to share my excitement with you all :) YAY us!
