Vacation. Day 3. We went to visit the Assateague Island and the lighthouse. When we went last year we had Buddy in the car so we couldn't go on Assateague Island because it's a wildlife preserve and they don't allow animals on the island so I made sure this week we would go.
Sunday was National Lighthouse Day so we could walk up the lighthouse for free - but it was SO hot and the line was kind of long so we skipped the walk up the lighthouse for wandering around it and then driving around the island.
We (ok, I...) took our time wandering the path to and from and around the lighthouse. It's just so pretty I couldn't stop snapping pictures.
After the lighthouse we headed to the visitors center for some AC (seriously, it was really hot) and to make a pit stop at the bathroom. It's been a really, really long time since I've been in the visitors center so we wandered around there too and took in the history of the island.
We took a nice drive through Assateague Island and we even saw some of the wild ponies. Sometimes they are closer to the road, but this time they were a little farther away. Close enough for us to see, but not close enough for the lens I had with me. Made me definitely regret not bringing my long lens that's for sure.
Before heading home we drove by the beach. It made us regret not bringing our suits because it would have been nice to top off our very hot walk with a dip in the ocean but we hit up the pool back at the campground.
We spent the rest of the day hanging out with Buddy and made the most amazing seafood dinner (fresh scallops and shrimp. I love the Eastern Shore!)
We had kind of a relaxing day on our 4th day of vacation. We had been really go-go-go for the first couple days so we decided to split our time between hanging at the house with Buddy and hitting up the pool to relax.
