Pregnancy update: Week 40

How Far Along: 40 weeks. I’ve made it the whole way and I’m feeling like this little girl is going to make them force her out.

Size of baby: Size of a watermelon – between 19 and 22 inches and between 6 and 9 pounds. And I certainly hope she’s closer to the 6 pound mark instead of that 9 pound mark haha.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: At the doctor last week I weighed in at 155 which is a 40 pound weight gain (I lost 2 pounds so I’m going with this as my final weight)

Maternity Clothes: Right now it’s more like sweats and t-shirts because I’m home waiting for baby to come, but when I do go out I am in maternity clothes – well, pants anyway because it’s too cold to wear my short sleeved maternity shirts and I don’t have any long sleeved ones.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She is definitely in there having a party! I will miss this the most; actually it’s the only thing I’ll miss about being pregnant.

Sleep: I am trying to get as much as I can but it’s uncomfortable so it isn’t always the best but I am getting what I can get.

What I miss: I miss seeing my feet. I miss being able to get up off the couch or out of bed without assistance. I miss not feeling like I might pee myself all the time. I miss not having heartburn. I miss being comfortable. I miss not being pregnant.

Cravings: Right now I’m too busy stuffing my face with spicy food and pineapple and anything else that “they” say can bring on labor.

Aversions: Nothing

Symptoms: I can’t see my feet but I know they’re swollen. I’m extremely uncomfortable. I have this carpal tunnel in my right hand that makes the tips of 3 of my fingers kind of numb, but not all the way numb. I get a little restless leg syndrome which is not fun. I still get heartburn, but that’s probably on account of all that spicy food I’ve been eating.

Labor Signs: Not a one. Walking, stairs, bouncing on an exercise ball, spicy food, pineapple…none of those old wives tales have worked for me.

Belly Button in or out: It’s out and it has been. It also looks kind of funny according to Steve.

Wedding rings on or off: Off and I miss wearing them.

Best moment this week: Well, over the weekend we did so much walking around the mall that I did a little shopping for me so that was nice.

Looking forward to: Meeting my daughter. She’s had plenty of time inside and now it’s time for her to be an outside baby.

Pregnancy Update: Week 39

How Far Along: 39 weeks. ONE WEEK TO GO! Unless she’s stubborn and wants to be late, but my doctor promised me she wouldn’t make me go past 41 weeks!

Size of baby: She’s still the size of a watermelon….just a tad on the heavier side this week, maybe. Measuring about 19-22 inches and weighing in between 7 – 7.5 pounds. Neither Steve nor I were that big when we were born so we’ll see if she is.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: When I was at the doctor last week I hadn’t gained any more weight!! YAY!! But I hadn’t lost any either so I’m still up 42 pounds total.

Maternity Clothes: Well, since I’m working from home until she’s born it’s more like pajamas. But yeah when I go out I’m wearing maternity stuff just so I don’t stretch out my regular clothes.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She’s still an active baby and the other night I thought she was going to go Alien on my stomach, but after feeling her position the next morning I think she just was working her way down. Not out, just down.

Sleep: It’s not good. Not good at all. What I miss: Seeing my feet. Sleeping on anything but my side so my hips and shoulders don’t hurt so bad. Being able to walk and not waddle. Not having to pee a thousand times a day and night. Being able to get up off of anything without assistance. And being able to really play with Buddy – he wants me to chase him around on the floor but that’s not happening and I feel bad.

Cravings: Still really just my Oreo’s and milk.

Aversions: Nope, not anymore.

Symptoms: I’m pregnant and I know it that is for sure!

Labor Signs: I thought Hurricane Sandy was going to bring Baby Sydney because I was feeling sick on Monday and thought I was having contractions but after some water and just sitting down and resting those contractions were really just Braxton Hicks.

Belly Button in or out: It’s out.

Wedding rings on or off: They’ve both been off for a while. I miss them.

Best moment this week: Steve and I went to dinner on Sunday night as a last night out just the two of us before we have a baby. It was really nice.

Looking forward to: Meeting my daughter. I’m glad she didn’t come during the hurricane, and I’m really ok waiting for her to decide when she comes but I am really excited to have her here finally.

Pregnancy Update: Week 38

How Far Along: 38 weeks! 2 weeks to go!

Size of baby: Still the size of a watermelon. Measuring anywhere between 19 and 22 inches and weighing around 6.5lbs.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I’m up a lot more than I expected to gain that’s for sure. People are surprised when I tell them its 42 pounds and they say I look great – that makes me feel good. It’s the people that constantly call me the fat pregnant lady that really hurt my feelings.

Maternity Clothes: You betcha though since it’s gotten colder and I don’t have any long sleeve maternity shirts I’m wearing regular shirts and hoping I’m not stretching them out.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She’s still a really active baby and she’s actually found this one spot that she loves to push her foot out which kind of hurts and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m bruised on the inside right there. It’s also really kind of neat to see her movements because her feet/arms actually stick out since she’s bigger and stronger now.

Sleep: It’s getting worse and worse because my hips are achy and I get up to pee a lot but I do still sleep and I get a nap in every afternoon.

What I miss: I miss my feet being of normal size… they’re a tad on the swollen size! And I miss not really hurting all over but at this point I think it’s really just safe to say I miss not being pregnant.

Cravings: I’m still in love with my Oreo’s!

Aversions: Nothing anymore. Symptoms: Heartburn, swollen feet, achy body, no sleep, sore hips in the morning, and weird numbness in the tips of 3 fingers on my right hand (seriously, that one takes the cake as weirdest pregnancy symptom!)

Labor Signs: Nope. Not a single contraction and really very few Braxton Hicks contractions even. I would even venture to guess I still have my mucous plug because I haven’t had any contractions so I’m probably not dilated at all.

Belly Button in or out: Out! Out! Out!

Wedding rings on or off: Off… and I miss them!

Best moment this week: We went to the pumpkin patch this weekend with some friends and their kids and that was a lot of fun (and walking!). I can’t wait until next year when we’ve got a little one of our own to do that kind of stuff with.

Looking forward to: Even though I’m crazy anxious and nervous I’m definitely looking forward to meeting our baby girl soon!

Pregnancy update: Week 37

How Far Along: 37 weeks. FULL TERM! That’s crazy. CRAZY.

Size of baby: Still the size of a watermelon. Measuring anywhere between 19 and 22 inches and weighing around 6.5lbs.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Well I’m certainly excelling in this category for sure.

Maternity Clothes: Mostly yes, but I do have a pair of jeans I can wear with my BeBand (maybe others, but I like the way those fit still so those are the only ones I wear really). And I had to dig out some long sleeve shirts since it’s cold and I don’t have any of those in maternity. At this point I’m just making it work.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She’s still pretty active & I love that. I think I’m going to miss that the most. That and actually seeing her move is really cool. Lately she’s been sticking something (a foot perhaps?) in to my right side and you can quite clearly see it on that side. Not like the foot itself, but you can definitely tell something is sticking out over there.

Sleep: This is getting to be more and more of a joke. I’m so uncomfortable and I get up to pee so much that I’m lucky to get whatever I can and I’m just tired all the time.

What I miss: I miss a lot of things, but mostly I miss being not pregnant now. I enjoy parts of being pregnant but I’m just feeling large and almost incapable of doing simple things that it’s kind of frustrating. But I’m all for her sticking around for as long as she needs to be inside me. I’ll definitely miss not feeling her inside me.

Cravings: I’ve been enjoying apples lately – which is great cause I bought a big bag and then one of our neighbors brought us a big bag so we’ve had a lot of apples and I’m the only one eating them! I also still have my daily dose of Oreo’s because I just can’t give those up!

Aversions: Nothing.

Symptoms: Heartburn, back aches, soreness, inability to sleep sometimes, having to pee a lot, being hungry but at the same time not having enough room to really fill me up, not being able to see my feet – or anything below my belly!, I can’t put on shoes if they don’t slip on, and it’s nearly impossible to get up off the floor/couch/bed without some assistance.

Labor Signs: Nope! So far nothing. Even my Braxton Hicks contractions are very few and far between (like some days I don’t have them at all and when I do it’s really only because I’ve done too much or I haven’t had enough water so as long as I drink some water and sit down they go away pretty quick).

Belly Button in or out: Out.

Wedding rings on or off: Definitely off. And I really started to miss them this morning.

Best moment this week: We had baby prep class this past weekend and that was informative. I think Steve feels better about the whole labor thing now that he’s gone through it. And I’m officially full term this week which is pretty exciting. It also means she could literally come at any time which is scary, but really cool at the same time.

Looking forward to: We don’t have anything big coming up in the next few weeks, basically we’re just going to take it easy and wait for baby!

Pregnancy Update: Week 36

How Far Along:  36 weeks. That means there are only 4 weeks left. FOUR. Or 28 days. That is not a lot of time. NOT AT ALL.

Size of baby: SIZE OF A WATERMELON. A Watermelon. That's not small at all. Still measuring between 19 and 22 inches, but her weight could be up to about 6.5 pounds (which would be about what I weighed at birth)

Total Weight Gain/Loss: It's pretty safe to assume that I'm up exactly the number of weeks I am. Because that would be the rate I have been going up until this point and I'm supposed to be gaining a pound a week so there's that.

Maternity Clothes: Why yes, yes I am. And I’m still wearing some regular clothes (a couple pair of jeans with my BeBand and some regular shirts as long as they’re long enough and not too tight cause I don’t want to stretch them out)

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She is certainly active. And right now her movements are actually hurting me. I don't know if it's a foot or an elbow but she is getting some jabs in for sure.

Sleep: I'm definitely more tired lately so I go to bed earlier but I'm not sleeping solidly because of all the  getting up to pee so I don't wake up feeling rested or anything.

What I miss: I miss not being so sore and sleeping well. And since it's getting cold I miss not being able to really bend over to put on shoes.

Cravings: I still pretty much just crave Oreo's on a regular (daily!) basis. Other than that I don't (and really haven't) had any strong cravings.

Aversions: Nothing really, I'm feeling pretty good.

Symptoms: I'm sore - mostly in my hips and I think that's from sleeping on them. I feel large. I can't see my feet. I can't bend over and I don't really move with grace or ease these days. It's hard to get up off the couch. My feet and fingers are a little on the swollen side and they kind of hurt a bit so that's not fun. And I still have that weird random half asleep feeling in my feet so that's weird too. And lately my hands have been falling asleep at night. Basically, I'm definitely pregnant!!

Labor Signs: Nope. I don't even really have a lot of Braxton Hicks these days, but I stay really hydrated so I don't know if one has anything to do with the other.

Belly Button in or out: OUT!

Wedding rings on or off: Definitely off at this point.

Best moment this week: Our family friend finished Sydney's mural and it looks SO GOOD! My parents & brother came over this weekend and it was nice to spend some quality family time, lunch, and a little shopping with Mom while we dragged the boys with us. I also did some shopping for myself - nothing super fancy, just some nursing tanks and bras and some pajamas for after delivery but it was really nice just to buy something for myself. And with all of that I am now all packed for the hospital for both myself and for Sydney.

Looking forward to: Doing the last finishing touches to the nursery - some cleaning and hanging of the mirror over the dresser and it'll be all ready for her. Also just finishing up the last of the things I want to get done around the house between now and whenever she decides to show up.

Pregnancy Update: Week 35

How Far Along: 35 weeks (and on Tuesday that meant I had 35 DAYS LEFT! Crazy.)

Size of baby: She's still the size of a large cantaloupe measuring about 19 to 22 inches, but this week apparently the cantaloupe is a little heavier weighing in at 6lbs.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Well, I’m winning the weight gain race for sure haha. But I still don’t look like I gained what I have (35 pounds, for the record) and my doctor is fine with my gain and at this point I’m not changing anything because I only have 5 weeks left.

Maternity Clothes: Why yes, yes I am. And I’m still wearing some regular clothes (a couple pair of jeans with my BeBand and some regular shirts as long as they’re long enough and not too tight cause I don’t want to stretch them out)

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She’s a really active baby…. Except when people (mostly her grandma’s) want to feel her. But she definitely gets her dance party on. I love it.

Sleep: Hanging in there I guess. It’s not even remotely comfortable anymore, and I’m up every 2-ish hours to pee, but at least I’m sleeping.

What I miss: I think at this point I miss being not pregnant just for the little things. So I can put on shoes and socks without having trouble. So I can walk up a flight of stairs without feeling like I just ran a marathon because she’s squashing my lungs. And recently, because I believe she’s mushing my stomach as well, I miss not feeling sick to my stomach.

Cravings: Right now because I just feel a little nauseous constantly I don’t really have any cravings right now.

Aversions: Kind of everything right now because it seems that a full stomach makes for a more upset stomach which is the complete opposite of the beginning of my pregnancy because then it was an empty stomach was an upset stomach and the only way to keep the morning sickness at bay was to eat often.

Symptoms: Aside from all the uncomfortable stuff in the few categories above I’ve got this weird thing going on with my feet. Minimal swelling (although sometimes there is more than minimal) and sometimes the arch of my foot kind of like falls asleep. It’s a weird feeling because it’s not the whole foot so I’m walking on like a half asleep foot.

Labor Signs: Nope and even the Braxton Hicks contractions are kind of few and far between. Which is ok, because they’re just annoying.

Belly Button in or out: OUT!

Wedding rings on or off: Definitely off at this point.

Best moment this week: A family friend came over to work on a mural for the nursery and it looks SO GOOD! It’s not done yet but it’s getting there and it really does look amazing. We also went to a yard sale and a consignment sale over the weekend and scored some amazing deals. I finally feel like we don’t have to buy anything else for her even though I still feel unprepared for her arrival! And I organized her closet and dresser. SO MANY CLOTHES! But only 0-6months really, apparently this spring someone is going to need a new wardrobe…. Good thing there’s another consignment sale in April I can go to haha!

Looking forward to: Having the mural finished because then I can put the last finishing touches on her room and call that done. And finishing up the last of my to-do list… it’s still kind of long, but I’m working with the really important (to me) stuff first and it’s getting there little by little so I feel pretty good about it.

Pregnancy Update: Week 34

How Far Along: 34 weeks! With 6 weeks (though if you’re basically anyone to look at me you will say that it’s less because I will definitely be having this baby in October… guess we’ll see!)

Size of baby: She’s the size of a large cantaloupe. Measuring anywhere from 19 to 22 inches and weighing in at about 5.5 lbs.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I was up 34 pounds at my last appt. I go again on Thursday and expect to be up two more pounds because it seems like I’ve been gaining about 1 pound a week at this point.

Maternity Clothes: Absolutely – I did try on some non-maternity jeans from my closet and they fit with my band so that’s a cool addition to my wardrobe. I’m trying to stick with either loose fitting non-maternity shirts so I don’t stretch out my regular clothes or just maternity shirts. As long as I’m comfortable I’ll wear whatever I can.

Gender: BABY GIRL!! Movement: She’s definitely an active baby. She is on the move a lot during the day (rolling around? I have no idea what she’s doing but I wish so badly I could just peak in!). She moves A TON at night or when I’m laying down. Kick count usually takes less than 10 minutes to get 4. The only time she doesn’t move? When I’m at either parents house because they want to feel her so bad. Stubborn should be her middle name!

Sleep: I get sleep, but it’s not great or anything. I’m up every couple (2 or less) hours to pee and I’m definitely uncomfortable and sometimes I just wake up sore.

What I miss: Comfortable sleep; being able to get up with ease; not being sore all the time; seeing my feet; not having to pee every 30 minutes; being able to eat a full meal; eating anything and not getting heartburn. But I wouldn’t trade this for anything in the world!

Cravings: Oreo’s. I have started calling my weight Oreo weight haha! Aversions: Nothing…except being comfortable apparently.

Symptoms: Aside from everything in the what I miss category I have noticed I tend to get some swelling in my right foot. A little in my left, but a lot in my right. It’s weird to have one swollen foot, but the weather has cooled down a bit and I’ve been wearing pants so you can’t see my weird feet at least. I also am unable to wear shoes; it was really cold one morning so I decided I’d wear shoes to work instead of my flip flops and I got one on (my left, unswollen foot) and it was pretty difficult to get that taken care of but I was half way there…until my right shoe wouldn’t go on because my foot was so swollen. That was definitely a disappointment since I had gone through so much trouble to get the other one on just to have to take it off. So I wore slippers to work and put on my flip flops when I got there.

Labor Signs: Nope. Having some Braxton hicks contractions, but after some water those tend to go away.

Belly Button in or out: It’s out. Definitely out.

Wedding rings on or off: They’re both off. I did find another ring that I had that fits (it’s too big regularly but now it fits my pregnant fingers) but I kind of gave up on wearing that too because it’s still a little too big so I’m just not worrying about a ring at this point.

Best moment this week: We didn’t spend all weekend away from home so I was able to get some stuff done around our house – like cleaning! I reorganized our kitchen cabinets to make room for bottles and bibs and stuff. I also did a deep clean on our middle floor. I might do another one the week or so before she’s supposed to come but we’ll see because I still have a list a mile long that I want to tackle before she’s here. I also put together her swing and it looks so cute in the living room. It has one bird sound setting and that’s kind of funny to put on and see Buddy’s reaction because he can’t quite figure out where it is coming from. I’m trying to get him used to all these new things little by little so he doesn’t freak out too much when she gets here.

Looking forward to: There’s a huge consignment sale this weekend that I want to go to. I’m not sure we need a whole lot of stuff, but I really want to go so I’m going!

Pregnancy Update: Week 33

How Far Along: 33 Weeks. 7 weeks to go.

Size of baby:She’s the size of a pineapple! PINEAPPLE! That’s getting big. Measuring about 19-22 inches and weighing in at about 4.9lbs.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I’m definitely winning the race in the weight gain category!

Maternity Clothes: Yes. I haven’t actually tried to get in to any pre-pregnancy pants with the beband yet this fall so I don’t know if those fit. My Bermuda shorts were still fitting at the end of the summer so maybe my regular pants would, who knows. Either way I have maternity pants so that’s good. I’m a mix on the shirts & it just depends on how long or flowy they are. Though I am getting more and more worried about stretching them out and I don’t want my regular clothes to look funny after baby so I try to really only wear my maternity shirts.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She’s a mover for sure! I love watching her move around in my belly Sleep: It’s interrupted and uncomfortable.

What I miss: Comfortable sleep; being able to get up with ease; not being sore all the time; seeing my feet; not having to pee every 30 minutes; being able to eat a full meal; eating anything and not getting heartburn… the list goes on...

Cravings: Oreos definitely. I’m still big on the sweets in general and I still love as much fruit as I can get.

Aversions: Nothing

Symptoms: See the “what I miss” question… Also, I've been really really sore the last few days - round ligament pain I would guess - but I also attribute that to growth because now I feel bigger. I’m definitely pregnant that is for sure.

Labor Signs: Just some Braxton hicks, but nothing too overwhelming/concerning.

Belly Button in or out: Definitely out.

Wedding rings on or off: Sadly, I’m at the un-wed mother stage haha. But I was able to wear them for much longer than I had anticipated so that was nice.

Best moment this week: My brother came home last week so it was nice to have him home and to be able to spend time with him. Also, Steve turned 30. It’s been really fun telling him how he’s 30 and I’m still (and forever) 29!

Looking forward to: A little bit more of a low-key weekend. We have plans, but not as many!

Wednesday, September 12, 2012

Pregnancy Update: Week 32

How Far Along: 32 weeks. EIGHT MONTHS. With only 8 weeks (or 2 months) to go.

Size of baby: She’s the size of a honeydew melon. Measuring at about 19 inches and weighing probably about 4.5pounds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: At my last appointment it was 30 pounds. I go to the doctor this week and since I’ve been gaining at a rate of about 2 pounds a week it’ll probably be at 32 pounds. Either way I still look so small according to everyone that sees me so that makes me feel good.

Maternity Clothes: I’ve been wearing mostly maternity pants so I’m not actually sure if my regular pants fit this week. I wore them a lot over the summer to extend my shorts wardrobe but since it’s cooled down and I have enough jeans I haven’t really thought about it. I do still fit in to some regular shirts, but I’m almost afraid I’ll stretch them out so I try not to wear them too much.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: Oh yeah. And both moms were able to feel her this weekend which they have been DYING for so that was good.

Sleep: Eh. I try but it isn’t always good. Or comfortable. But I am sleeping so there’s that I guess.

What I miss: Comfortable sleep, being able to bend down, getting up off the floor with ease (or grace…), not having heartburn after a bowl of cereal, being able to see my feet, and to eat until I’m full not until there isn’t any more room even though I’m still kind of hungry!!

Cravings: Oreos are definitely high on the list of must eat foods. I like Italian too – last week I was craving spaghetti so Steve’s dad made spaghetti sauce just because I asked and we were coming over for dinner that night. It was amazing.

Aversions: Nothing.

Symptoms: See the whole what I miss thing. I’m definitely a pregnant lady in her 3rd trimester!

Labor Signs: No thank you!

Belly Button in or out: It’s been out for a while

Wedding rings on or off: Sadly this weekend marked the end of both rings.

Best moment this week: Baby shower over the weekend. And finding out my brother comes home on Thursday.

Looking forward to: Seeing my brother at home. Finally!

Pregnancy Update: Week 31

How Far Along: 31 weeks! That means there’s 9 left. SINGLE DIGIT WEEKS LEFT!!! How is that possible?!

Size of baby: This week we’re still the size of a head of lettuce…just a bigger head of lettuce. Weighing in at 3.9lbs and measuring at about 19inches.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I’ve basically put on about a pound a week. But I don’t actually look like I’ve put on that much weight. I’ll take it because as long as I still look cute and the doctor says I’m growing perfectly then I’m fine with whatever I put on (she says hopeful that it comes off as easy as the oreo’s helped it go on hah!)

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. Some of my regular pants still fit with the BeBand so I wear them, but I do generally stick to my maternity pants only because I have them and why not wear them?! I have a bunch of shirts that still fit but I’m starting to wear less of the ones I really, really like so they don’t get all stretched out.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She is a mover that is for sure! It’s freaky but very cool to see my stomach “dance” when she does

Sleep: It’s hit or miss. I always sleep every night, but I don’t always sleep well (comfortably) but at least I’m getting sleep. I can nap like a champ though.

What I miss: Comfortable sleep and waking up without my hips aching! And being able to get up off the floor without needing help or getting on to all 4’s and getting up from there. Funny story – I was at the vet’s office and for some very stupid reason I sat on the floor… well, I didn’t want to have to ask for help back up so I didn’t. But then I got like half way up and fell back down. I didn’t have to ask for help after that, but I think I almost peed myself from laughing so hard.

Cravings: I didn’t think I had any real cravings beyond fruit and anything sweet, but over the weekend when I asked Steve to grab me some Oreo’s and he said “you couldn’t live without these huh?” it hit me that I really could not live without them because I eat them every day. I even bought a package of mint Oreo’s at the store and woke up from my nap because I wanted them so badly. So Oreo’s. I crave Oreo’s.

Aversions: Nothing really. I’m doing pretty well on that front. Symptoms: Heartburn, feeling uncomfortable all the time, having to pee like it is my job, I’ve got the waddle down, Braxton hicks contractions, big ol’ belly!

Labor Signs: Nope!

Belly Button in or out: Out. All the way out.

Wedding rings on or off: Band is on, engagement ring has been off for a while.

Best moment this week: Getting her furniture built and getting started on the nursery. It already looks so cute!

Looking forward to: This weekend is my baby shower so definitely that!!

Thursday, August 30, 2012

Pregnancy Update: Week 30

How Far Along: 30 weeks. THIRTY. I don’t even know how it is possible that I only have 10 weeks left.

Size of baby: She’s the size of a head of lettuce! Measuring at about 18inches and weighing in at about 3.2 pounds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I have no idea. I haven’t been on the scale since I was at the doctor last and that was about 2 weeks ago and I was up 25 lbs at that point. The doctor tells me I am growing/measuring perfectly so those are the things I focus on at this point. That and everyone says I’m so tiny which makes me feel good!

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. I can still fit in to non-maternity pants with my band and shirts as long as they’re long enough. I’m also trying to be more conscious to wear shirts that are a little baggier so they don’t get all stretched out so that they will look funny on my post-baby body. I do have a number of maternity clothes that make more regular appearances in my wardrobe.

Gender: BABY GIRL!! Movement: Oh yeah. She’s a mover and a shaker for sure. The other night when I was trying to fall asleep she was moving all over the place and it made me seriously wish I could just peak in there to see what was going on.

Sleep: Same story, different week. I wake to pee a couple times and it’s hard to get comfortable. Basically I’m ready for there to be a baby here since I’m up and down all night anyway but at least then maybe I could give my poor hips a break since they are so, so sore.

What I miss: I miss being able to get up off the floor gracefully. That’s definitely a thing of the past now.

Cravings: I have a super sweet tooth but I still love my fruit so maybe they balance each other out (they probably don’t though). I don’t really crave anything too crazy though, but when I have to have something I have to have it.

Aversions: Nothing, we’re all good in the food neighborhood these days Symptoms: Heartburn, achy body, waking to pee, uncomfortable sleep, trouble getting up off the floor, a touch of some restless leg syndrome, and my sciatic nerve is all kinds of enjoying being a pain in the rear

Labor Signs: Nothing yet… some Braxton hicks contractions, but nothing that should leave me (or anyone else) concerned.

Belly Button in or out: Totally out.

Wedding rings on or off: wedding band is on still but my engagement ring has been off for weeks.

Best moment this week: I’m not sure really. Steve hurt his back a bit so he hasn’t been able to carry up her furniture, which is fine because I don’t need him seriously hurting himself this close to her arrival and with so much left to do. It is nice to have all the touch-ups to the paint done and knowing that we’ll have her furniture in there soon.

Looking forward to: Putting together her furniture and emptying out her closet since I just shoved everything in there to clear the room for the painting. Also doing her laundry, which I’m sure will wear off after she gets here because I really hate to do laundry but her little clothes are just so stinkin’ cute!

Pregnancy update: Week 29

How Far Along: 29 Weeks. I probably don’t have to say it again that I’m amazed this is going by so fast huh?!

Size of baby: She’s the size of a butternut squash measuring at about 17 inches and weighing in at 3.1 pounds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I stopped getting on the scale really. My doctor was pleased with my gain and measurements last week and I think I look cute even though I feel big but no one else seems to think I look big so I’ll figure out at the end how much I gained and obviously I’ll slow it down if the doctor says I need to.

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. I can still fit in to my pants with the BeBand but I do tend to stick to more of my maternity pants just because I have it and I might as well wear it. Shirts are about a 50/50 mix of maternity and pre-pregnancy. I tend to wear whatever I’m feeling like wearing that day. Which included a bright yellow shirt the other day… which then made me feel like I was smuggling the sun, so I probably won’t be wearing that again haha.

Gender: BABY GIRL!! Movement: Most definitely. It takes about 10 minutes to get our kick counts done each night, but I tend to lay there for longer than that just because I love feeling her moving around in there.

Sleep: It’s definitely not getting any better. Guess it’s a good thing I’m getting used to being tired all the time huh?!

What I miss: I really miss comfortable sleep. Cravings: I’m always game for Mexican or pizza. Or anything sweet…. Like the Phish Food ice cream I sent Steve to the store for the other day.

Aversions: Nothing, I’m doing really well in the food department

Symptoms: Heartburn, uncomfortable sleep, waking to pee 3 times a night, oh and swollen feet have made their appearance. Which is annoying since I sit at work with my feet propped up, I drink a TON of water (and other fluids) so I’m always racing to the bathroom but yeah, swollen feet. Not swollen anything else just the feet.

Labor Signs: Random Braxton Hicks contractions, but nothing to be concerned about.

Belly Button in or out: Out and proud!

Wedding rings on or off: Engagement ring off, wedding band on.

Best moment this week: We painted her nursery. I love the color and I’m glad I was finally able to settle on a color.

Looking forward to: Finishing the nursery. We need to finish clearing out the random leftover guest room stuff and we can get to building furniture and setting up her room. SO EXCITING!

Pregnancy Update: Week 28

How Far Along: 28 Weeks! THAT IS THIRD TRIMESTER FOLKS! 7 whole months! Which means 3 months to go.

Size of baby: She's the size of a small head of cabbage measuring at about 17 inches long and weighing in about 2.9 pounds!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I don’t like to weigh myself right now. No one is concerned about my weight (meaning my doctors) and I still get comments all the time about how small I am and my regular clothes fit so I just gave up on the scale cause it was making me stress out even though it wasn’t making anyone else stress out.

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. I still fit in to my regular clothing (pants with a BeBand) so I’m going to keep on wearing them for as long as they’ll let me without stretching them out so they look funny when I get my body back after this girl is born. I do have maternity clothes but I’m not buying any more until I really need them.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: More and more. She is definitely getting her grove on; but she still isn’t up for showing off when people want to feel her. Daddy has felt her because she moves a lot at night after I’ve been pretty relaxed for a while, but he’s the only one that’s gotten to experience her besides me.

Sleep: Sleep is overrated. Apparently. It’s getting harder and harder to get a good night’s sleep. I can nap with the best of them, but sleeping all night is a thing of the past.

What I miss: A solid night’s sleep. I just feel tired all the time and even though I otherwise feel great it doesn’t matter when you’re exhausted.

Cravings: BBQ! Finally I want that again. BBQ is one of my favorite foods on earth (always has been) but when I was first pregnant I ate some and it was terrible – which was even more terrible for me – and I haven’t wanted it since but just recently I smelled some at work and it was all I could think about. We went out for BBQ over the weekend and it was amazing!

Aversions: Nothing really. I love food and food loves me!

Symptoms: Heartburn on the regular which just seems to be triggered by food in general so that is super fun! I’m achy which isn’t really all that new to me but it’s just annoying to constantly be achy as opposed to before I was pregnant when I was just achy after a long run.

Labor Signs: No thank you!

Belly Button in or out: It’s out. And you can totally see it through my clothes sometimes when I’m wearing pants with a low maternity panel. That is super awesome haha.

Wedding rings on or off: Band is on, engagement ring is off.

Best moment this week: Over the weekend we went to a huge yard sale (the route 11 crawl, 42 miles of yard sale to be precise) with my parents and Aunts and Uncle and we picked up this prenatal heart listener at one of the stops and I was testing it out and picked her up right away so I quickly put the headphones on my mom and her face was priceless. I called my Aunts over to hear and they were just as excited. Some guy got so excited that he decided to take a listen too haha. Not sure who he was, but at least he didn’t actually come in for a belly rub! That evening we took our new toy over to Steve’s parents house and his sister was there so they got to listen too (well, not his dad because he was asleep). She might not want to show off her kicks for them, but it was really awesome to let everyone hear her little heart beating away!

Looking forward to: We picked paint finally (and by finally, I mean because I picked it then changed my mind then couldn’t decide so I finally decided what I wanted for her room) which means we can get to painting and then we can set up her furniture and then I can fill her room with all the other goodies I have!!

Pregnancy Update: Week 27

How Far Along: 27 weeks!

Size of baby: She’s as big as a head of cauliflower! Measuring 16in long and weighing in at 2.5 pounds.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: I donno – let’s just go with what I said last week, 24 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. I’m still fitting in to regular clothes – shirts if they’re longer, and pants with my BeBand. I do have maternity clothes that I wear too. At this point I’m trying to see how long these regular clothes will last cause they’ve lasted longer than I imagined.

Gender: BABY GIRL!! Movement: Oh yeah – more and more – and I can tell she’s getting bigger and stronger because I’m feeling her move around more consistently.

Sleep: HA! It’s hit or miss at this point and not nearly as comfortable as I’d like it to be.

What I miss: At this point, I really miss being comfortable and being able to sleep. I still miss good sushi (not California rolls) and wine but who wouldn’t?!

Cravings: I really don’t have any weird cravings. I crave fruit and sweets and sometimes I’ll really want something in particular but I haven’t craved anything consistently.

Aversions: Nothing I’m doing really well in the food department!

Symptoms: Heartburn; body aches; being hot all the time; and uncomfortable sleep. And the other day my stomach was really tight which wasn’t so much painful as it was really uncomfortable in any position I was in so I guzzled some water, took a hot shower, and went to bed and I woke up feeling much better so who knows what that was about.

Labor Signs: Nope!

Belly Button in or out: Out. Out. Out.

Wedding rings on or off: Engagement ring off, wedding band on.

Best moment this week: We got the nursery pretty much cleared out (some small-ish stuff that we’ll move to the basement when we’re ready to paint) and we made some progress on the basement get the 2nd half cleaned so we can start to finish that.

Looking forward to: Being in my third trimester next week! That’s pretty awesome.

Pregnancy Update: Week 26

How Far Along: 26 weeks. Which means I have 3 1/2 months to go. THREE AND A HALF. I don’t even know what to say about how crazy that is. I’m nearing the end of my 2nd trimester and the beginning of my 3rd. It’s all just going so fast.

Size of baby: She’s the size of a cucumber this week. Measuring at 15 inches and weighing in at 2.2lbs.

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Well I got on the scale this morning for the first time in weeks. Apparently I am now up 24 pounds. Boy was I surprised since I don’t feel like I look any bigger. Pregnancy is weird.

Maternity Clothes: Yes and no. I wear them, but I can still fit in to my regular clothes (pants with the BeBand). Which makes it even more crazy that I have gained 24 pounds. And also very glad that I like my shirts on the pretty long side so they are still long enough to go over the belly and still look good.

Gender: BABY GIRL!!

Movement: She’s moving more and more these days which is pretty cool. She still prefers to be more active when I am being less active but I guess that makes sense. I also play her music from my iPod (phone) and she’ll “dance” to that. She appears to like the country music just like her Mama.

Sleep: It’s getting harder and harder to feel like I get a good nights sleep. I do sleep, but I’m up once or twice for the bathroom. And it’s hard to get comfortable when I am sleeping. And sometimes I wake up on my back and that actually kind of hurts. I take naps though every day when I get home from work because I just can’t do anything more until I get a little nap. And Buddy likes to curl up around the belly (when we’re napping on the couch that is) so that’s pretty cute. He’s going to run out of room here soon but I don’t think he realizes that.

What I miss: Solid sleep.

Cravings: Fruit in general is yummy! I still have that sweet tooth. And I do enjoy pickles, but I’ve always liked those so that isn’t really a pregnancy thing for me. Other than that I haven’t had any weird pregnancy cravings.

Aversions: Nothing in particular.

Symptoms: HEARTBURN! It is terrible. I’m definitely a Tums girl now.

Labor Signs: No thank you!

Belly Button in or out: It’s out. OUT. And according to my mother “looks weird” THANKS MOM!

Wedding rings on or off: band on, engagement ring off.

Best moment this week: we bought furniture; we picked out bedding and a stroller; and we registered! We also ordered baby shower invites so the planning has begun for that! SO EXCITING!

Looking forward to: Getting all the furniture and starting on the nursery. I am so ready for that!
